Excerpt from Miruna’s Diary (01.04.1986)
“Yesterday was my happy day – I got into Drama School! I am now one of the six «chosen» ones. Dad came back from Vienna today. He brought me an exposure meter for Gino. It says “Gossen Lunasix” on it – I like how the latter name sounds. But I will give it to him on Sunday, on his birthday!
Mom started crying again. She feels sorry I gave up the Music Academy, but Dad tried to solace her by giving himself as an example, again: how he had tried his whole life to take up music, but he never got the feel of it. «A brilliant wash-up». In the evening, I telephoned Gino. He was still at his mother’s, in Constanta. I told him about Dad’s concert in Paris next month and that he will take me along with him. If our passports are ready on time.
«Can you imagine what Paris means for a woman?» Gino: «And for you? What does it mean?» Me: «But I am no woman.» Him: «Than what are you? … A plant?» Me: «Yes! I am a white cherry flower! No! I am a blue flower! Like the sea… like the sky.» Him: «Forget-me-not?» Me: «Yes, Forget-me-not.» Him: «Don’t tell me you chose one of Eminescu’s poems at the exam.»”
